Focus on what YOU CAN DO, not what you can't do

When I talk about yoga to people, it is mostly one of the two ways people think of it.
"Wow it looks too hard, there is no way I will be able to do any of that"
or
"this is easy it's just stretching and lying down on the floor."
Yes and yes.
Yes that sounds contradictory... But... Let me explain ....
It is easy to focus on what we can't do.
I can't reach my toes,
I can't do that without my back hurting
I can't do this standing up I can't I don't have time.
What the focus needs to be set on what you can do.
What can I do to improve my movements without pain.
What can I do in a seated position. What can I do in 10 minutes.
The pose you see at the bottom I couldn't do very well without smashing my foot when I tried. But I let go of any expectation of getting the pose and instead, I focused on what can I DO. I can focus on holding my core as a slowly move forward until I got to the end result of hitting this last pose. If you are tired of being in pain (shoulders/hips/low back) If you have had previous injuries and physical therapy/ chiropractic care has reached its limitations of rehabilitation, yoga is for you.
